Welcome to Lockhart Kite Day! 🪁 We’re so excited for this free, community-driven event hosted by Lions Legacy Athletic Academy and Lions Legacy Community Development. Below are answers to common questions to help make your experience great! (For Spanish, Click Here)

📅 Event Details

📍 Where is Kite Day happening?

  • Our main event is at Lockhart City Park: 504 E City Park Rd, Lockhart, TX 78644.

  • SEE MAP for parking locations—some streets will be closed for safety.

⏰ What time does it start?

  • Saturday, March 15th | 10 AM – 5 PM

  • Kid Fish (hosted by the City of Lockhart) starts at 9 AM at the pond—no registration needed!

🏞 Do we have to go to Lockhart City Park to participate?

  • No! The spirit of Kite Day is getting outside and enjoying time with family & community. Other great kite-flying spots:

    • Lockhart High School Practice Field – 500 City Line Rd

    • Navarro Elementary Open Field – 715 S Medina St

    • Lockhart Jr. High Football Fields – 500 City Line Rd

🪁 What to Expect at Kite Day

🎈 Is this a festival or carnival?

  • Think of it as a laid-back community day with kites, music, fun, and family-friendly activities!

🎤 Will there be entertainment?

  • Yes! DJ Rob Ortiz (Big As Texas Sounds) will provide music & announcements.

🎪 What activities will be available?

  • Free kites & shirts (first 200 signups filled before January)

  • 250+ free kites available at the event

  • Bouncy houses, sports games, & informal activities

  • Lions Pride Sports Broadcast’s "Dream Big" Interviews

🌭 Will there be food?

  • Yes! A few vendors will be selling affordable food, drinks, and snacks.

  • You can bring your own food, blankets, chairs, & tents! No BBQ pits or alcohol, please.

🚐 Transportation & Accessibility

🚍 Is transportation available?

  • Yes! Free shuttle service in Lockhart & Dale, TX.

  • Pickups from Dale Community Center every 1.5 hours (only if signups exist 30 min prior). Sign Up Here!

  • Return Shuttles will be recurring at the City Park; The Shuttle will have a return number to text for ETA.
